Archival Prints - Each image is printed with the finest inks and paper available. The Ink / Paper combination (Epson UltraChrome K3 Pigmented Inks / Ultra Premium Photo Paper) has a “Print Permanence Rating” of 165 years by Wilhelm Imaging Research, the foremost authority in the field. This means that the prints are rated to last 165 years with no noticeable fading when framed using a Ultra Violet (U.V.) filtered glass. This is an amazing number for color photographs, especially when compared to Cibachrome prints which have a Print Permanence rating of about 33 years.
Mats – In keeping with the Archival nature of these prints I use Museum Ragmat by Crescent. These mats are 100% cotton and are acid free and lignin free. Lignin is a component of the cell walls in plants. Lignin will turn yellow as it is exposed to heat, resulting in yellowing of paper. Acid causes the paper to be more fragile, resulting in thinning and brittleness. These are the two primary factors that contribute to the degradation of conventional papers. This is why it is imperative to use mats that are both acid and lignin free to create a truly archival quality print.
